The justice decided. Vincent Sevestre was found guilty of defamation towards the mayor from La Haye-du-Puits (Manche), Alain Leclère.
The promoter moved to Coutances court ce Wednesday November 6, 2024 to hear the judges' decision in the complaint for defamation filed by the chief magistrate of the commune.
A conflict that lasts
Vincent Sevestre is sentenced to a fine of 2 000 € including €1,500 suspended, to pay €3,000 to the mayor for all of its damagesand to withdraw the two articles posted on his blog “La Couleuvre”.
The case was mentioned on September 18, 2024. The two men are in conflict for several yearsand the mayor had decided not to tolerate what he considered to be defamation.

On the site run by Vincent Sevestre, we could read “are our elected officials crooks? » . Vincent Sevestre, who no longer has a lawyerdefended himself by claiming that asking a question is not defamatory.
This was not the opinion of prosecutorwho declared that one can be an opponent without casting opprobrium on elected officials. It is a warning sentence told him the president of the court.
