The appeal arrived Thursday, November 7 by email under the title “Demonstration against insecurity in on November 10”. Unsigned, the message is sent from a temporary address created for the occasion. The writer of the message therefore announces a demonstration “to denounce the growing insecurity”, at 5 p.m., departing from Place Jean-Jaurès in the sub-region. prefecture of Tarn.

“Many residents will gather to express their concern about the encroachment of daily life. This event aims to raise awareness among local authorities and elected officials, and to demand concrete actions to restore a climate of security,” the message further specifies.

The hand of Albigensian Homeland

Behind this relatively sober tone and this vagueness of intentions lies in fact a small far-right group well known in Tarn, Patria Albigès. And what serves as a pretext for launching the call is the attack suffered by a young man on 1is November in Castresthat far-right media like Boulevard Voltaire, Borders or even Current Values were very quickly relayed and treated under the prism of anti-French racism.

That day, leaving a nightclub in the early morning, Léo, 21, was stabbed in a fight. Facts that still remain unclear today. Contacted by Occitanie Newsthe Castres public prosecutor's office has made no comment on this matter. But an immediate trial brought to light… lack of clarity of facts.

Recovery

If initially there was talk of scuffles involving around thirty people, only one appeared. A 19-year-old man prosecuted for the stabbing, but “only” sentenced to 105 days of general work for “violence”. He only admitted punches and the weapon was not found. As for the racist motive, it was not retained…

What outraged for example Bernard Carayonthe mayor of Lavaur, who moved from the Republicans to the more right-wing camp of Éric Ciotti, and who let loose on social networks: “When are we going to put these scum under control? When are we going to stop immigration gone crazy? “.

It is in this context that the CGT, the FSU and Solidaires denounce Sunday's march. “We deplore the attack of which Léo was the victim on 1is november. The racist exploitation that is made of it is absolutely odious,” protest the unions.

After the demonstrations in

They also recall that other gatherings have been organized in recent months by Patria Albigès, a small group of which several members have been convicted and which regularly hits the headlines. This was the case on October 12 in Albi. The activists had marched with smoke bombs “for Kylian and Philippine”, according to them, victims of “French migration policy”. “Our message is clear, we no longer want a single French person to perish under the blows of foreign scum. Remigration now”: that’s the watchword.

For the CGT, the FSU and Solidaires, Sunday's rally is dangerous. And could fueling “racist acts, calls for revenge, incitement to hatred and violence”.

They ask the prefect to ban it

The Human Rights League joins the action of the unions, who are asking the prefectural authorities to “take the necessary measures to maintain public peace”.

“A new demonstration in Castres on November 10 can only fuel violence and call into question public security instead of defending it,” believes the LDH, which had already requested a ban on the October 12 demonstration in vain.

As a reminder, the group of Radicals of the Left and Citizens of the Occitanie Region had a wish adopted in November 2022 asking the Minister of the Interior to dissolve Patria Albiges. Also in vain.
