Some 2,500 police officers and gendarmes will be present near the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Thursday November 14 for the League of Nations meeting between France and Israel, while 1,500 others will be mobilized in Paris, franceinfo learned Friday 8 November from a source close to the matter. The objective is to avoid violence such as that committed Thursday evening in Amsterdam against Israeli supporters.
This deployment of law enforcement is all the more important as only 20,000 tickets have been sold so far. This is the lowest attendance for a French team match at the Stade de France, which has a capacity of 80,000 seats. The last match played in France between the two teams, on September 4, 2004, during a qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup, attracted 43,527 spectators.
