A couple who had also been indicted for these sordid acts of rape and pimping, were acquitted. The grandmother of the young victim, prosecuted for failure to report a crime, benefited from an acquittal.
Accused of having raped and assaulted his daughter aged around ten in a small village located north of Alès, Samuel V., a 42-year-old father, was sentenced this Friday, November 8 , by the Gard criminal court, to 17 years' imprisonment, accompanied by a two-thirds security sentence. The magistrates also pronounced the total withdrawal of parental authority. The father was convicted of sexual assault against two other children in the family (a boy and a girl) and was acquitted of pimping.
“ Partial acquittal (for pimping) was necessary, testified, his lawyer Me Dounia Hamchouch, the accused's lawyer, after these five days of trying debates. But the sentence can, perhaps, be the subject of discussion.”
Pimping and rape: a couple acquitted
A couple, who had always denied having participated in and committed these serious and sordid acts (rape and pimping of the little girl) was acquitted. It was therefore a huge relief this Friday noon for their lawyers and their clients, who were very moved and in tears. “I am reassured by this decision, commented Me Abdelghani Merah, who defended Elise (first name changed). The court carried out a real analysis of this case, with its flaws, going well beyond the prejudices which have caused my client to be implicated for two and a half years.” Me Marc Roux, Luc's lawyer “saluted the courage of the criminal court… It is reassuring for justice and for our society. It is a fight that we have been waging for years.”
Defended by Me Sophie Bonnaud, the grandmother who was prosecuted for failure to report a crime was acquitted.
