The armed attack created a stir in the small rural town, unaccustomed to acts of violence. Last Friday, October 25, on the Route de Clermont, the Le P'Tiou Corti tobacco shop was robbed shortly before its closing, in the valley of Sillingy.

It was around 7:30 p.m. when an individual, helmeted and wearing a surgical mask, burst into the business, threatening the employee with a handgun to have the contents of the cash register and a few cartons of cigarettes handed over to him.

His crime committed, he left on his scooter. Shocked, the shaken employee took a few days off to recover, before returning to her post with her head held high. This is the first time that commerce has been targeted in this way.

Confused and identified by video surveillance

Everything then happened very quickly. The investigation carried out by the gendarmerie research brigade (BR) made it possible to identify the robber, a 17-year-old teenager living in a surrounding town. The latter was arrested at his home this Tuesday, November 5 and placed in police custody. To elucidate the armed attack, the soldiers were able to count on the support of municipal police officers.

The use of the municipality's video surveillance tapes was decisive. The cameras made it possible to retrace the journey of the young robber who had taken care to deface the license plates of his scooter. The moments when he stopped to remove the caches and where he joined the funfair, established in La Balme-de-Sillingy, were captured, definitively confusing him.

Presented on Wednesday November 6 before the children's judge, the teenager was placed under judicial supervision, pending his judgment scheduled for early December. As for the weapon used, it turned out to be fake.
