The Red Label, a guarantee of quality, has existed for almost 60 years. The label is known for meat in particular; it was Landes chicken which was the first to have obtained it. Until now, the Red Label was rarely granted to processed products and it did not even exist for confectionery, but L’Amandoria nougat, from Montboucher-sur-Jabronnear Montélimar, is the first to have obtained the label this summer.

The Drôme manufacturer is itself at the initiative of this labeling. “We have been confectioners since 1887 and we have always worked on very high quality products with ingredients from the region, PGI lavender honey from Provence, almonds from Provence. We therefore wanted to promote short circuits through a quality label superiorexplains the manager of L’Amandoria, Camille Polge. We have therefore turned to the development of a Red Label. It is a label which is well known for its quality but which did not yet exist on the confectionery market. So we worked for three years to develop this label.” The nougat maker has therefore developed specifications with the National Institute of Origin and Quality (INAO).

Label rouge nougat now open to all manufacturers

“Today, we are very proud to launch the first Label Rouge nougat on the market,” rejoices Camille Polge. Now other nougat makers can try to obtain the label, whether they are from Montélimar or elsewhere in . Drôme nougat makers have also been working for twenty years to obtain the IGPthe protected geographical indication. The file is now in the hands of Europe. The IGP makes it possible to protect know-how and a place of manufacturing.

Also for the first time, the Amandoria factory is exhibiting at the Made in France show which is being held in from this Friday November 8 to Monday November 11. Last year, the show had 100,000 visitors. “We went to Paris with a van full of nougat,” says nougat maker Camille Polge. We are going there with the objective of making our new brand known, of making the label tasteable to as many people as possible. We hope it will be favorable for sales and we have good hope of returning with the empty van!”

In total, 27 companies in Drôme-Ardèche are participating in the Made in France show this weekend: other nougat makers, such as Suprem Nougat or Nougat de Montségur, textile brands -1083, Fait du slip, un Chiffon Font Font, or even game manufacturers such as Payan Design, which makes skipping ropes.
