Orange vigilance is activated again in Occitania in the face of rain and storms, this Friday, November 8, 2024. Two departments are impacted.
Météo France first cracked down by placing several departments of Occitanie on yellow alert, this Friday, November 8, 2024. Mid-morning, the alert has been revised upwards.
Hérault and Aude
In the territories of Hérault and Aude, It is double orange vigilance which will be activated: it concerns rain and storms. In each department, alerts will start at 6 p.m.this Friday, November 8, 2024. They should last until at least 6 a.m.Saturday 9.
Heavy rain
In its bulletin, Météo France mentions a situation which will therefore deteriorate at the end of the day. “Thunderstorms break out in Hérault and eastern Aude. These storms last for most of the night from Friday to Saturday”, it is indicated. “They accompany each other heavy rain with hourly intensities reaching 50 to 60 mm/h; cumulative rainfall for this stormy episode can reach 80 to 120 mm locally 150/180 mm.”
Three other departments in yellow
The latest map published by Météo France shows that three other departments of the country are on yellow alert, this Friday, November 8. These are Gard and the Pyrénées-Orientales for storms, and Upper Corsica for thunderstorms and rain. The rest of the country is green.
