The municipalities of Criquebeuf-sur-Seine and Martot have once again broken their collection record by organizing Pink October. Last Wednesday, a check for €18,661 was given to the Eure Cancer League.
“It’s another very nice surprise! » reacts Jérémy Thirez, the mayor of Criquebeuf. Last year, the actions of Criquebeuf and Martot made it possible to raise €11,206, a very nice sum which had put the two municipalities at the forefront of donations given to the League against cancer for Pink October in the department. “This year, we set ourselves the objective of €15,000, thinking that it would be difficult to achieve,” continues the mayor, recalling that the first edition of Pink October, in 2021, had raised €3,000 .
600 participants in the march
For two days, the weekend of October 6 and 7, a parent/child race was organized in Martot as well as a walk the next day in Criquebeuf. This march brought together more than 600 participants who were able to benefit from many festivities implemented during the day.
“We also set up a raffle and a sale of goodies which worked well,” adds Jérémy Thirez, mentioning the financial participation of local traders and artisans : “There was a very nice synergy between the driving forces.”
Even better in 2025?
The check for €18,661 was given to representatives of the League Against Cancer by members of the municipal youth council. They themselves had created a flashmob to welcome the young influencer Ophenya, who came to support the operation and raise awareness among the young public: “Her arrival allowed the demonstration to reach beyond its usual borders,” remarks Jérémy Thirez who, now, wait until 2025 to “reach a new level” in the amounts collected for Pink October.
