Possible personal initiatives
However, union agents are not prohibited from organizing canvassing. It is possible that some people take this a personal initiative which is “neither regulatory nor contractual”. “This practice is a custom which depends on the free will of each person,” adds Sietrem, which also reminds its employees and service providers of this rule every year.
As a service paid for by the community through tax on household wastethe union probably believes that there is no reason to carry out this type of canvassing. This is also the case of most unions from the north of the department.
Beware of fake sellers
The union also alerts the vigilance of residents regarding fake touts and to vols par ruse. “In the event of malicious or insistent canvassing, we invite you to alert the police,” writes the union.
However, it is impossible to ensure that the canvassers are “real” union agents: Sietrem prohibits the use of professional clothing and the agents do not have professional cards. Except know their garbage collectorsresidents are therefore called to be vigilant.
