In Occitanie, the driver of this van received a fine of €1,440 on the motorway

In Occitania, it’s the start of the season for dangerous overloads on the motorway… After the Aude gendarmes, who had to deal with a crazy van, it was the turn of the soldiers from the Gallargues motorway platoon, in the Gard, to make a similar observation.

Very recently, on the A9 motorwayto the height of Milhaudthey intercepted a van which absolutely did not comply with the regulations for road transport of less than 3.5 tonnes…

11 tonnes and €1440 fine…

The weight of the vehicle was clear: 6.2 tonnes for the towing vehicle (3.5 tonnes authorized) and 5.5 tonnes for the trailer (2 tonnes authorized). A total of 11.7 tonnes while the authorized load is 5.5 tonnes for the towing vehicle plus the trailer.

The vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinterwas immediately immobilized, the time to be unloaded, and the driver was fined up to €1,440 for all sections of overload (fixed fine of €135 per 500 kg of overload).

Inadequate brake system, wind drag, risk of loss of cargo, risky handling: these dangerous vans, all too common on our highways, particularly as summer approaches, are the subject of our full attention .

Like every summer, the police are warning of these dangerous behaviors.

“Last week, the same type of machine caused an accident, fortunately not serious,” worries the Gard gendarmerie.
