Engaged in a historic strike since September 23, the firefighters of the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of Lot-et-Garonne are calling off the movement this Friday, November 8. Not because they got what they wanted, “far from it”, but because the work involved will be long.

On Wednesday, November 6, the inter-union was received by the president of the board of directors of Sdis 47, Sophie Borderie, as well as two elected officials, Valérie Tonin and Ludovic Biasotto, accompanied by members of management. One more position than the two envisaged for 2025 was promised to the firefighters, who demanded the recruitment of 21 professionals, in order to ensure, according to them, interventions within reasonable time limits in the department.

Having no visibility on possible “reinforcements” for the years to come, the inter-union validated the principle of working groups to be formed by the end of the year. “We have suggested areas for savings, but we know that it will take a long time. We remain on the defensive, we hope a lot but for now, we are very disappointed by the management's proposals”, says Christophe Vidal, representing the Autonomous Union, alongside the other unions – SPP-Pats 47, CGT, Spasdis -CFDT – mobilized in the negotiations since the first hour.

“We remain mobilized”

A delegation, which met this Thursday, November 7, with Senator Christine Bonfanti-Dossat, has a meeting with her counterpart, Michel Masset, on Saturday. Before the Lot-et-Garonnais representatives of the Upper House, the firefighters were able to speak with the three deputies of the department, in order to share with them their difficulties and to alert them to the quality of the assistance, which they judge in drop. “We also have a meeting with the prefect this Tuesday, November 12. Of course, we are stopping the strike, but we remain mobilized, even if we have to go to the Minister of the Interior! », continues Christophe Vidal.

In order to alert the Lot-et-Garonnais to the situation, an online petition was launched last week. It already has more than 560 signatures.
