Every two months, the Grand Guéret (Creuse) multimedia library offers “Come and play with the family” in partnership with the Petits d’homme boutique.
“Come and play with your family!” » The invitation is extended by the Grand Guéret multimedia library and by the Petits d'homme boutique. The idea? “It’s being able to get together as a family around the game and also show the fun side of libraries. It’s something we’ve never done, to get together around the game here, explains Rémi Rétaud, reception agent at the BMGG. It can be interesting, especially since we have a lot of families coming. »
Play among books
For the occasion, the library will trade a little of its traditional silence to welcome playfulness and laughter into the exhibition space. “The goal is to play like at home, to be with family, to have a friendly atmosphere,” smiles Rémi Rétaud and to break the somewhat “square” side of libraries “by offering new things” . To make sure the game is at the party, the Petits d’homme boutique came with its hands full!
“Today, I brought some games for all ages, things for little ones from 3 years old and others for older ones, more fun games because the goal is to have a good time and discover games that we don't necessarily know, number games, letter games because we're in a library, to stick to the places”
Manon Lézé (Petits d’homme boutique)
In Creuse, these students run a games club for 3-12 year olds every Wednesday
On the tables, some board games are installed and others are waiting to catch the eye of the participants. We find Quoridor, Les petits Souris, Takenokolor, Roule-Tambouille. There are also more strategic card games, word games like Speedbac, “a kind of Petit Bac” where you have to be extra quick, in short, a whole range to discover in the company of an expert since Manon Lézé knows “the rules of all games”! “I am also here to advise games that are suitable for everyone. »

“The objective is to introduce people to games that people don't know, to really get them to play lots of different games. » And why not provoke a crush and give some ideas to put under the tree. “It’s always good to have tested a game before buying it,” she emphasizes.
. Next meetings.
Wednesdays January 15, March 12 and May 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the BMGG exhibition room in Guéret.
“It also allows everyone to have access to this universe, to be able to come and discover games, for free, because it's true that we play a lot of Monopoly, Uno, etc., but there are full of very interesting games that exist, perhaps less known and for the whole family » Rémi Rétaud
(reception agent at BMGG)
Discover, but also come together, spend time together around the table, all generations combined. “It’s something that came back a lot during confinement, people started playing a lot more again and it’s running out of steam a little,” observes Manon Lézé. Hence the desire to relaunch the dynamic, so that “people say to themselves: “Ah yes, actually, it’s really great to get together to play!” »
Like Esther, who came with her two daughters, aged 4 and 12, to try out the Earthworm Rally. “Since we had children, we have gotten into board games quite a bit. We try to rediscover our childhood games with dad, and then find new ones because I know there are countless games and we can't have them all, so it's nice to being able to play like here for example,” explains this library regular. Because for loyal readers, “it is also an opportunity to bring people to the library who may not have come, through another entry point which is gaming”, underlines Rémi Rétaud.
