At the François-Villon high school, in Les Mureaux (Yvelines), which was among the best establishments in the academy, problems are multiplying. Among the most important: a lack of space, resources, personnel or security problems. So much so that days “dead high school” were organized on November 5 and 6, 2024.
In particular: the number of students, which would have increased significantly. The demonstrators indicated to 78 Actu : “In ten years, the high school has gone from 850 to 1,380 students. We end up with classes of 36! ». And this creates a lack of space: “Students are forced to work on the floor” provides a teaching assistant.
Several supports
The situation does not improve at mealtime: “In the canteen, you have to arrive first to be served. There are missing plates, cutlery…”, testifies a student to our colleagues.
Dieynaba Diop, socialist deputy for Yvelines and former deputy mayor of Mureaux, gave her support to the demonstrators, notably by going there. She published a tweet in which she calls “the State and the Île-de-France Region to take their responsibilities to remedy this unacceptable situation”.
The Versailles academy, for its part, ensures that it is monitoring the situation and has indicated that representatives of parents and teachers will be “received by the Directorate of Departmental Services of National Education”.
