The agglomeration of Chartres Métropole (Eure-et-Loir) warns its population against the increase in fraudulent commercial practices. “Unscrupulous” companies go to residents to encourage them to carry out thermal renovation work as quickly as possible.
Claiming a partnership with the local authority, these artisans justify their canvassing with false arguments. “They indicate to residents that a new local regulation has been adopted requiring owners of individual houses whose energy diagnoses are poor to carry out insulation work,” explains Chartres Métropole, which was forced to do namely, in a press release, that it “does not impose any energy renovation of homes. » And to specify that “no intervention in individuals, within the framework of the services of Chartres Métropole or its public service subsidiaries is carried out without prior information”.
The Chartres agglomeration, which reserves the right to carry out “any action which proves necessary” invites residents “to be vigilant, to report any practice which seems doubtful to them and not to follow up on these false solicitations “.
A few weeks ago, Christine's mother (his first name was changed at his request), 92 years old, almost signed an estimate for the insulation of the roof of his house. “Luckily I came to see her, otherwise she would fall for it,” she says. “I found the approach a little strange. After three answers to my questions, I kicked out the pseudo-salesman. I imagine these companies identify people who are elderly, lonely, vulnerable or unbelieving. This is the case for my mother who lives a little in her world.”
At the start of the year, fake Chartres Habitat agents approached owners of individual homes by telephone to sell them energy diagnostics. Several complaints were then filed.
