Pas-de-Calais habitat and the CUA Sustainable Housing Center are organizing a first awareness visit to innovative materials, insulation installation and airtightness techniques.
It is a project that stands out as a model of sustainable and efficient renovation. A true demonstrator in terms of the use of biosourced materials and interior rehabilitation. The work consists of thermal insulation of ceilings and walls from the inside with the installation of biosourced insulation: wood fiber.
The choice of material for an efficient energy renovation
This natural material, still little used in renovations, offers exceptional thermal performance while regulating humidity. An ecological choice that reduces energy consumption and improves indoor comfort. The non-party walls were insulated with 145 mm wood fiber and the party walls with 100 mm for optimal thermal insulation. On the second floor, the ceilings were insulated with “double skin” wood fiber (100 mm + 145 mm above), offering excellent energy performance.
“Start again with good masonry”
New windows were installed to increase energy efficiency. As Yannick Chwaliszewski, carpenter at Batinor, explains: “ spreading over good masonry is essential so that everything is plumb when installed. After this, a vapor barrier will be installed on the walls and connected to the window frames, a crucial membrane to make the home airtight and reduce heat loss. “
Switch from energy class G to B
In terms of carpentry, the garage door was also replaced for a more modern and efficient model. This transformation also involves plumbing and electrical work. A heat pump was installed for an eco-responsible heating system. Ultimately, the energy class of the house which is in G will become B.
This rehabilitation is today a showcase for individuals but also landlords to encourage them to renovate their home(s) by limiting energy consumption and therefore carbon emissions.
This demonstrator is also a tool for local businesses and learning centers to highlight know-how and advocate training for the use of innovative materials.
The visit to the exemplary rehabilitation site will be organized on Friday November 8 from 2 p.m., in Dainville, at 35, avenue Cuvierto discover the work and, why not, be inspired by it. It is the result of a collaboration between Pas-de-Calais habitat and the Sustainable Housing Center of the Urban Community of Arras.
