The mother of a 4-year-old boy, suspected of acts of torture against her son, was placed in police custody on Monday. The police went in the evening to the family's home, in Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne), after being alerted by the staff of the nursery school where the child is educated, reports Actu 17. The latter “presented traces of burns on the body and had torn nails,” a source close to the investigation told the media.

The boy was immediately taken to hospital while his mother, aged 26, was arrested. He is the subject of a temporary placement order, specifies Le Parisien.
The public prosecutor's office opened an investigation for “acts of torture and barbarism”, “habitual violence against a minor under 15 years of age by ascendant” and “evasion of a parent from their legal obligations compromising the health, safety, morality or education of the child.” The investigations are carried out by the Territorial Crime Division (DCT) of Essonne. The young woman was still in police custody this Wednesday.
