A 7-year-old girl was found dead this Wednesday, November 6, in a house located rue Baptiste-Reverdy, in Coudes, in Puy-de-Dôme, reports the newspaper La Montagne. Emergency services intervened after an alert was given by the sister of the child's mother. They discovered the little girl's lifeless body in the bathroom. The child's mother was found unconscious at the scene.

According to the public prosecutor of Clermont-Ferrand, who confirmed the facts reported by our colleagues, investigations are underway. Not wishing to communicate at this stage of the investigation, she nevertheless raises in an interview with the local newspaper, the hypothesis of a “family drama” without giving further details.

According to the newspaper, the macabre discovery was made when the mother's sister, worried about not having news of her loved one, alerted the emergency services. Arriving on the scene, firefighters and police found the little girl lifeless in the bathroom and the mother unconscious in the house. The latter was quickly transported to hospital for treatment, but her state of health was not specified.

The family had moved to the town only two weeks ago. According to Laurys Le Marrec, the mayor of this small village of 1,300 inhabitants, the little girl did not go to school. “It’s a terrible tragedy, and it’s all the more difficult to accept when you are mayor of a small town,” declared the elected official, visibly upset by the event. “When such a tragedy affects children, it affects the entire community.”

“Yesterday, everything was put in place so that the investigation takes place in the best possible conditions”said the mayor. “The town hall remained open until one in the morning to facilitate the investigation work.”

The Issoire research brigade is responsible for the investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
