One month after the announcement of the departure of Jacques Witkowski for the Grand Est region, the name of the new prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis was revealed during the Council of Ministers, this Wednesday, November 6, 2024. It is Julien Charlesarrived straight from the southwest.

A man on the ground
Enarque from the René Cassin class, he cut his teeth as a prefect in Saône-et-Loire then in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques where he had been stationed since October 2022.
Although the date of his taking office has not yet been announced, this native of Cantal aged 49 should soon settle down in the Paris region. An area that he already knows having been, between 2018 and 2020, secretary general for public policies of the prefecture of the Île-de-France region.
For his part, the now ex-prefect of Seine-Saint-Denis took up his new position on October 28, 2024. When he took office, Jacques Witkowski had announced three guidelines: a reactive State – “which acts but does not over-act” –, the readability of public action – “and we cannot adhere to a measure if we do not understand its meaning” – and proximity – “I will be on the ground a lot” -.
