Towns and villages in bloom: a new prize

Jaleyrac. Towns and villages in bloom. This year, the town of Vebret and its mayor, Fabrice Meunier, welcomed the jury of “Cities and villages in bloom” for the awards ceremony. The “Cities and villages in bloom” label has existed for more than sixty years to reward the commitment of communities to improving the living environment. It takes into account the place given to plants in the development of public spaces, the protection of the environment, the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity, the promotion of French botanical heritage, the reconquest of city hearts, the tourist attractiveness and citizen involvement at the heart of the projects.

A tool at the service of residents

This label constitutes a daily support tool for municipalities which wish to improve the well-being of their inhabitants and preserve the identity of their territories while developing their living environment. During the awards ceremony, the town of Jaleyrac was awarded second prize.

The prize list was received by Olivier Roche, Françoise Dauzet and Jean-Paul Borne, respectively mayor, municipal employee in charge of green spaces and deputy for works. The awards and prizes were presented by numerous elected officials, including Bruno Faure. The municipality already has to its credit a flower obtained a very long time ago.

Olivier Roche, the mayor, makes it a point of honor to participate in the flowery villages competition every year. Françoise Dauzet, the agent responsible for the town's flowering, plays a vital role. The overall development of public spaces is taken into account, but also the management of natural resources by organizing the watering of plants by collecting rainwater. This award is recognition of the work of the municipality, which is committed to the attractiveness of the living environment and the preservation of its biodiversity.

Olivier Roche recalls that a photo exhibition took place in the spring, to highlight the assets of the village. The municipality is planning an event at the beginning of next year, to exchange vegetable or ornamental plants.
