The parking (free) at Trottebecqnamed after watercourse which passes nearby, is currently being redeveloped. This parking lot is widely used by patients, their relatives and agents of the Cotentin public hospital center.

It belongs to the City of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin (Manche). The works have started the Monday October 28, 2024 and should end, excluding hazards, Friday November 8, 2024. The construction company Colas, one of whose agencies is located in Brix, won the contract.

Two main changes

According to one of the company's representatives, met on site on Tuesday, November 5, this redevelopment consists of two main points. PMR (People with reduced mobility) access is being built at the corner of rue du Trottebecq and rue Vintras.

At the opposite corner, a footbridge was created in March 2023 to connect this Trottebecq car park to the new Levalois car park, named after the former home-residence and the crèche which were located at this location, which was inaugurated on 2 March 2023.

Access to this footbridge will be secured by removing two neighboring parking spaces. This place will be replaced by a green space which will be created under the management of the services of the City of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin.

In addition, the few ash trees which were along rue Vintras, and which were “dead” according to the worker, were removed. An electric vehicle charging station will remain in place.
