While David Mélenchon had resigned without revealing the precise reasons, the directors met to elect the new president.

Yesterday Tuesday, at midday, the Board of Directors of UPE30 took place, the network of entrepreneurs affiliated with Medef. While David Mélenchon had resigned a few weeks ago, without revealing the precise reasons, the administrators met to elect the new president.

And it was Steeve Calligaro, also president of the RCN, who was elected by 18 favorable votes. An advantageous vote, but narrow with, at the same time, 13 blank ballots and two invalid ballots.

According to our information, the absence of a strong majority could be explained by the recent arrival of the strong man of Nîmes rugby as administrator. “Many wanted a postponement of this election, but Steeve Calligaro did not want it. This therefore upset several administrators”, explains a member on condition of anonymity. In all likelihood, the French Building Federation, which has five administrators, would have chosen to abstain. Others also would have requested the services of the Gard prefecture to ensure the legal compliance of this election.

After his mixed victory, requested by Objective Gardthe new president announces: “The UPE/Medef has an important role to play with regard to budgetary deadlines and its representativeness (80% of employer representativeness in the agreements) for companies in Gard. The UPE30/Medef must assume its role as the main union employer and that is what I will strive to do voluntarily, with determination and in a spirit of unity. My experiences as an employer representative in joint negotiations with the union centers will help me.
