A new traffic drama has just unfolded on the Meuse roads this Wednesday, already heavily bereaved in recent months with 19 deaths recorded since the start of the year.
Indeed, the firefighters of Dieue-sur-Meuse, Lacroix and Saint-Mihiel, under the orders of Lieutenant Humbert, intervened at 4:41 p.m. on the D964 between Dieue-sur-Meuse and Haudainville following a a violent accident involving a car and a heavy goods vehicle.
Truck driver unhurt
Despite all the efforts made by the rescuers, a 73-year-old man, who was driving the car heading towards Dieue-sur-Meuse, was declared dead by the SMUR doctor. His body had to be extricated by firefighters.
It must be said that his car, following the frontal impact, found itself embedded under the truck registered abroad. The driver of the latter was unhurt.
Traffic was completely blocked in both directions until 7:30 p.m., while the two vehicles were towed.
The investigation conducted by the Gendarmerie will have to determine the precise causes of this new fatal accident.
