THE deputies of National gathering (RN) Philippe Ballard et Alexandre Sabatou took up the pen to question the Minister of Economy in full crisis of theautomotive industry. They are particularly concerned about the fate of equipment manufacturers installed in theOise like Luchard Industrie in Grandvilliers or Forvia in Méru.

“French equipment manufacturers with their backs to the wall”

The Minister of the Economy, Antoine Armand, received a letter from the two parliamentarians from Oise. The latter discuss the crisis affecting the automobile industry and the consequences for French equipment manufacturers. “Stuck by the shift towards electricity, the pressure on prices applied by customers, and above all the dramatic drop in volumes over the past five years, many French equipment manufacturers find themselves with their backs against the wall,” we can read in this mail. The two parliamentarians also question the relocation of production to low-cost countries.

“In response, several equipment manufacturers, faced with reduced margins, rising production costs, and uncertainty about future volumes, have announced restructuring plans with site closures and job cuts,” write the two RN deputies.

Job cuts at Forvia, worried Meruvian employees

They then express their concerns about automobile equipment manufacturers based in Oise.

The two parliamentarians discuss the situation of Forvia, which has 31 sites in including one in Méru which employs 1,000 employees. Two thirds of the workforce is dedicated to research. “The recent decision to eliminate 8,600 positions in Europe by 2025 raises serious concerns among employees in France, while the company is making profits,” report the two deputies from Oise.

GMD in the red

Another example, that of Luchard Industrie (which belongs to the GMD group) located in Grandvilliers. “Being in serious difficulties for several years, with a debt estimated at 360 million euros, the group is restructuring and a buyer has positioned itself,” recall the two RN deputies.

After this reminder of the situation, the two Isarian elected officials asked the minister what is the action plan that the government intends to put in place “to support French equipment manufacturers in the face of the drop in demand and the loss of competitiveness on the market global”.

They also question him about the shift towards all-electric expected for 2035. “How will this transformation take place for the employees of these companies, about the multitude of professions of which only a few will remain and about the necessary training towards new skills?
