Saturday November 2 at Tir au vol was held the general meeting of the Arcachon Boules pétanque club. Yves Herszfeld, deputy mayor for sports and community life, represented the mayor.

President Michel Darcos welcomed the members (116 including 70% from Arcachon) who came in large numbers although some of them were competing outside. Competition is the key word of this club which Yves Herszfeld congratulates for having moved from the leisure pétanque stage to sporting pétanque. The club, whether for seniors or veterans, has distinguished itself in all categories, both departmental and regional, and even national, to become the third in in terms of results relative to the number of members.

Performances which require travel, the costs of which are an important element of the club's expenses. However, these are balanced thanks to the subsidy from the town hall and a few sponsors. Sponsors that the president would like to have more in number. He called on a volunteer who would take care of listing them.

A women's club

In terms of sporting results, the president congratulated the girls who are part of the club: it is the one where there are the most players in . Numerous and also effective, since the first division team became champion of Gironde and reached the regional level.

But it's not just the competitions. There are also, throughout the year, the “scrums” at Mauresque Park, which are always a great success and whose number of participants is always increasing, both among pétanque players from neighboring clubs and among summer visitors informed thanks to the illuminated board of the city of Arcachon.

It was an elective year. The general assembly ended with the vote of the members. The office is made up of Michel Darcos, president; Christine Espic, secretary; Valérie Paille, assistant secretary; Didier Zammit, treasurer, and ten members.
