The A6 motorway experienced yet another tragedy this Wednesday morning in Essonne. A utility vehicle occupied by two people violently collided with a tanker truck near Évry-Courcouronnes, in the Paris-Province direction.
When emergency services intervened around 9 a.m., the two occupants of the van were trapped in the passenger compartment, seriously injured. Around twenty firefighters carried out maneuvers to free them, in conjunction with two Smur teams. The Dragon 75.1 helicopter was also mobilized.
Despite the efforts of rescuers, the passenger in the utility vehicle was pronounced dead in the morning. He was 18 years old. The second victim is the driver, a 60-year-old woman. She was airlifted in absolute emergency to the Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil (Val-de-Marne). His vital prognosis was compromised during his transport.
An investigation was immediately opened by the CRS motorway to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. According to the first information brought to our attention, the van hit the rear of the truck head-on, whose tank was empty. A violent impact occurred on the right lane just before the junction with the N 104 (Corbeil-Essonnes) and the A5 towards Troyes.
The man driving the tanker truck was taken in by the police to be interviewed. At the same time, teams from the Drif (Île-de-France Roads Department) secured the intervention sites and temporarily blocked part of the traffic.
Serious accidents are regular on the A6 motorway. At the end of October, a man was killed, hit by several cars, near Villabé, near Évry.
