While he has no longer exercised his activity as a senator since November 2023, is the parliamentarian from -Atlantique, Joël Guerriau, still receiving his compensation? This is what the association against corruption and for ethics in politics seeks to find out.

While Joël Guerriau is confronted in the judges' office, this Wednesday (November 6), with Sandrine Josso, who accuses him of having drugged her without her knowledge on November 14, 2023 in to sexually assault her, Anticor 44 has wrote to the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, to find out if the elected official from Loire-Atlantique continues to receive his compensation.

What about the amount of compensation?

The amount is substantial, as calculated by the association's representative in the department, Alain Guillevic. “There is the basic parliamentary allowance of almost €6,000, there is his residence allowance which is €178, there is the official allowance at €1,527, his office secretary allowance at €749, plus that of advances on its costs which are €6,600. We practically end up with €15,000 monthly.

For the moment, we are not saying that he should not receive anything since we do not know exactly the status under which he finds himself. The fact remains that there are a certain number of costs, which should not be reimbursed to him since he does not have them. We ask Mr Larcher the question of what is being taken care of in order to see clearly in this matter.”

Joël Guerriau refused to resign, even after calls from many parliamentarians and local elected officials, and he has not set foot in the Luxembourg Palace for almost a year. If it turns out that the former mayor of Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire is found guilty of the acts alleged against him against MP Sandrine Josso, the association intends to take the matter to court.

“Theoretically, the absence of a senator can lead to a suspension of part of his allowances”

We absolutely do not have to judge the legal part of the problem posed by Mr. Guerriau, on the other hand, given the withdrawal from his activities as senator for almost a year, through the rules of the Senate's ethical guide, theoretically, the The absence of a senator may result in a suspension of part of his allowances, the question being whether his absence is solely linked to this request from Mr Larcher or if it is he himself who does not return for X reasons… Just tell us, continues Alain Guillevic, This is the exact status of Mr. Guerriau, and from there, he is entitled to receive his compensation or not.”

This question of compensation concerns Mr. Guerriau today, but what about Andy Kerbrat, the deputy for Loire-Atlantique, arrested in mid-October after having bought synthetic drugs in the Paris metro and who, too, refused to resign from his mandate.

For the association's representative, Alain Guillevic, the question could also arise. Anticor is “a apolitical association and whether it is Mr Guerriau or Mr Kerbrat, it makes absolutely no difference. If it turns out that elected officials receive compensation even though they are not present in Parliament, the Senate or even elsewhere in other communities, the problem is strictly identical.” In any case, the email sent two weeks ago to the President of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, concerning the Guerriau case, he has still not received a response.

As for today's confrontation: the accusations made by MP Modem for the 7th district are serious. According to Sandrine Josso, this “chemical submission was for purposes of sexual assault or rape.” The alleged attacker speaks of a handling error. However, the expertise of Joël Guerriau's phone revealed that the senator had made several searches on Google around rape and drugs on October 9, 2023.
