Haute-Corse: CAB announces a record investment of 24 million euros for 2025

It's a small revolution that the elected representatives of the Urban Community were able to witness yesterday. For the first time, according to President Louis Pozzo di Borgo, the CAB will be able to vote on its future budget before the start of the year! A strong message sent by the majority which, through the 2025 budget orientation debate, wanted to show rigorous and ambitious financial management. As proof, the announcement of an unprecedented investment of 24 million euros for the coming year compared to 9.5 in 2024. Investments devoted, in large part, to the renovation of the Armand Cesari Stadium, the creation of pathways soft or even the launch of work on the future technical center. “With these forecasts, CAB becomes a major player in the region by boosting the economy.” launched with great satisfaction, Louis Pozzo di Borgo.** A Louis Pozzo di Borgo proud to also announce the reduction in the debt reduction period which goes from 12.8 years in 2020 to 2.8 years in 2025, the reduction in charges of operation of waste collection and processing or even the 10% increase in subsidies in favor of the associative fabric. All this, the president of the CAB insisted, without resorting to the tax lever. “It is a very sincere, very serious budgetary orientation report. The CAB of tomorrow will be a CAB on the ground always with this concern to find a balance between operation and investment.”

A budget presentation which aroused very little criticism even if on the side of the opposition and in particular Julien Morganti, there are warnings of misleading figures. The elected ''a future for Bastia'' fears that the financial situation of the State and the CDC, main partners of the CAB, will not be up to the projects announced by the majority. “What is embarrassing about this self-satisfaction is that it is happening at the expense of residents, particularly through the increase in the TEOM achieved in 2021” launched Julien Morganti. Before continuing: “In my opinion, it is worrying to display such investment rates because there is no guarantee that the State and the CDC can assume their roles in these projects. There is a risk that this which is announced does not come true”.

Criticisms quickly brushed aside by Louis Pozzo di Borgo who recalled that upon his arrival in 2020 “the CAB was bankrupt with a deficit of 3 million euros” while 4 years later, it “is preparing to carry out a record investment rate.

Note that this debate will continue on December 9 with the vote on the 2025 budget by the CAB community council!
