Four new municipalities in Loire-Atlantique have been recognized as being in a state of natural disaster following the passage of storm Kirk during the month of October 2024.
If the floods first affected the south-east of France, and particularly Ardèche, several municipalities in the department suffered significant damage linked to the rising waters.
375 municipalities in France
Saint-André-des-Eaux, Cordemais, Vigneux-de-Bretagne and Treillières were thus recognized as disaster victims among 375 towns in France, according to a ruling published in the Official Journal of Tuesday November 5, 2024.
40 other municipalities in the 44 had obtained this same status in another decree dated October 23, 2024.
In Saint-André-des-Eaux, the violent rainfall led to the flooding of homes and the closure of several roads.

Requested by the municipalities, this recognition allows victims to benefit from compensation from their insurance, provided that their insurance contract provides a specific clause for natural disasters.
