A linear kilometer of archives processed: this is the symbolic milestone that the Intercommunal Archives have just crossed Nièvre and Somme.

This service, created in 2018 in Picquigny (Somme), allows you to store in the best conditions documents sometimes very old member municipalities.

Municipal archives, but also private ones

With these municipal archives, but also private ones, which are constantly enriching them, the collections allow history lovers to delve into the territory’s pastand discover the little stories that make it big.

For the third consecutive year, the Intercommunal Archives are participating in the International Archives Daythis Sunday, June 9.

Three guided tours are proposed by Gautier Gente, intercommunal archivist, heritage conservation officer for the community of municipalities.

In addition to these three guided tours in the conservation stores, an exhibition of key documents dealing with all historical periods will take visitors into the past, to discover the men who made the history of the territory.

And at the same time, it will be an opportunity to learn more about the facets of the archivist profession, in the company of the passionate Gautier Gente…

Sunday June 9 at the Picquigny headquarters of the Nièvre and Somme community of communes, 118 rue des Marais. Tours depart at 2 p.m., 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Free entry.
