All the athletes who won an event rang this bell, created by the Cornille-Havard foundry in Villedieu-les-Poêles (Manche), installed at the Stade de France during the Games. Offered to Notre-Dame de Paris by the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games, it will be installed this Thursday, November 7, 2024 in the Gothic jewel.

It had become a ritual at the Stade de France during the Olympic Games. A sound that resonated with every victory. In addition to the traditional lap of honor, the athletes celebrated their gold medal by ringing the famous bronze bell installed at the end of the Olympic track. This unique bronze piece, on which the “Paris 2024” logo is engraved, has since been removed from the sports venue. But it will soon resonate in the heart of the capital!
Pour “give new life and a new setting” this 130 kg bell created by the Cornille-Havard foundry in Villedieu-les-Poêles (Manche), the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games offered it to Notre-Dame Cathedral, whose restoration is ending for a reopening at the beginning of December, and which she will join Thursday morning.
A ceremony this Thursday, November 7
On this occasion, a ceremony is planned at 11 a.m. on the square in the presence of Tony Estanguet, boss of Cojo, the rector of the cathedral Mgr Olivier Ribadeau Dumas and Philippe Jost, the president of the public establishment Rebâtir Notre-Dame from Paris. A bit of the Olympic spirit will remain a legacy in the Gothic jewel.
