Clearly, Maurine Hornegg's the experience or at least… from the bottle. Ever since she was little, she could already see herself behind a counter. “Since the age of 14, I wanted to evolve in the world of cocktail catering,” she recalls.
After more than 12 years of experience in catering, mixed with 6 years of practice behind the bar, with a hint of school training, she has been self-employed since 2022 with her Snake'M Bar, in Quincy-Voisins (Seine). -et-Marne) “The snake is an animal that follows me. I even tattooed it on my arm,” confides the 25-year-old young woman.
All this relentlessness, she now wishes take advantage in the 2024 “Creators of the Future” competition. “This event aims to highlight the entrepreneurial energy of women in the Île-de-France territories. Thus, eight prizes will be awarded for a total prize of €60,000,” explains the organization.
The young entrepreneur is one of the finalists for the “mixed professions” prize, in Seine-et-Marne. “There are several categories such as innovation prize, impact prize, neighborhood prize, craft prize, emergence prize and finally mine,” lists the bartender.
The finalist still has a lot of way before entering the awards ceremony on December 3, 2024.
“The public will have the opportunity to vote online for the People's Choice Award from November 6 to 17, 2024. There will be a pitch preparation day for the regional finalists on November 12. Then six days later, they will go before the grand jury,” adds the organization.
“Feminize the profession”
Behind her bar, Maurine Hornegg offers several services. “Today I propose to bring the cocktail bar to clients for their events. I come to your home to also discover the secrets of mixology, the art of knowing how to mix the right alcohols to make a perfect cocktail,” testifies Maurine Hornegg.
The ambitions of this application for the “creator of the future” competition are to make known and to prove that a woman, but also an entrepreneur, can also excel in this rather masculine world, according to her.
“The bar world is tricky for a woman. I want to show that it is not only men who can progress in entrepreneurship. With this competition, in addition to visibility, I aspire to have the respect of my colleagues, so I could be much more credible,” she hopes.
Finally, if she can get this boost financial from the competition, Maurine Hornegg knows where she is going to invest. “I plan to create a custom-made, foldable bar that can be incorporated into a future van. I also want to develop on the networks, with a website,” concludes the young entrepreneur.
