At just 14 years old and with 3 participations in world championships to his credit, Sacha Pallier was crowned French wingfoil champion in Leucate. Licensed to the La Grande-Motte Yacht Club (YCGM) since 2022, Sacha finished first with eight races won out of the ten run.

Leucate, a favorite place for surfers with 300 days of wind per year, hosted the first French wingfoil cup at the end of October. Wingfoil, a board sport revealed to the general public in 2019, consists of getting on a board equipped with a foil to be towed across the water while holding a wing with an inflatable structure, the wing, in your hands.

Family passion

“I immediately saw Sacha’s potential. Passionate about wing myself, I took him into my team to train him”reveals Marion Mattia, youth coach at YCGM and Carnon. Since he was little, Sacha has been immersed in water sports thanks to his parents. The father, Éric Pallier, director of the Grand-Motto port, is an experienced sailor in races around the world.

Participation in the Mondial du vent

As for Ingrid, the mother, she has been surfing and paddleboarding for many years.

“At 12, after sailing and optimist courses, Sacha got on a wing board. It clicked instantly. He progressed very quickly. From a simple hobby, he felt the desire to participate in high-level competitions.

In 2022, at the first Wingfoil event in Carnon, he finished second in his category. Fifteen days later, he faced the best at the world championship in Saint-Pierre-La-Mer.says Ingrid.

A student in third grade, Sacha manages to reconcile his schooling and his passion. Tireless, he is training for the next competitions while waiting for the famous Mondial du vent from April 16 to 21, 2025 in Leucate and La Franqui.

The selections will be made based on the results of the previous year.
