A leather jacket and sunglasses: a silhouette well known to the general public will be present in front of the Issigeac church this Monday, November 4. Philippe Manoeuvre, the famous rock critic, comes to Dordogne for the funeral of his father who was a true lover of the department and in particular of his adopted commune.
Jean, the first name of Philippe Manoeuvre's dad, was a painter. Upon retirement, he decided to leave Champagne to join Périgord. “He had fallen in love with the Dordogne, and especially with Issigeac, rewinds the reviewer. Immediately, he saw things from the past in this village.“Jean Manoeuvre gave lectures on the history of Issigeac in the Middle Ages, particularly for heritage days, he also wrote books on the history of the town.
The inhabitants of Issigeac rediscover their village
Philippe Manoeuvre even says that the inhabitants of Issigeac rediscovered their town thanks to his father: “A resident admitted to me that my dad taught them to look at their village. He told them: 'Look at this, it's important, it dates from the Middle Ages!'”
Jean wanted to be buried in Issigeac. He confided to his son: “I was very happy, I had a very good life“. The funeral of Jean Manoeuvre takes place this Monday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m., in the town church.
