At the beginning of June, students have already found their summer jobs. For the “latecomers”, the France Travail agency in Doullens indicates which sectors are looking for workers for this summer of 2024 which begins soon.
For some, these are the first entries into the world of work, for others it is an annual routine: seasonal summer jobs begin. If we “zoom in” on the Doullens region, the need for seasonal summer jobs is focused on agriculture and the agri-food industry, explains Lucie Coquille-Vera, team manager at France Travail (formerly Pole emploi). ): “ There are offers for tractor drivers, but also in different sectors depending on the crops: at the moment it is strawberries, later there will be potatoes, beets, apples… » and even the harvest at the other end of Picardy, in the south of Aisne.
In the agricultural sector, let us also mention the harvests in July/August, the intensity of which may require additional hands for farmers. There is also weeding then cutting salads, packaging endives, sorting potatoes, or even picking apples and pears in the orchards. “ Interested people can take on several contracts in a row depending on the crops, these are positions to be filled as they arise. » deduces Lucie Coquille-Vera, recalling that part of the workforce chooses to live from seasonal jobs all year round. As for the agri-food industry, “ it is possible to work in the beet industry with the sugar factories, or in the Bonduelle factories, both in the Somme and in Pas-de-Calais “. It is advisable to contact industrial companies directly to try your luck this summer.
Another sector which recruits in the hot season and even more locally: leisure centers, “ there are some in many communities “. Bafa holders, you can try your luck, but even without a diploma it is possible to join a center, for example as an intern. To work in a leisure center, contact directly the communities of municipalities which manage it. And in fact, communities of municipalities such as Territoires Nord Picardie or Pays du Coquelicot offer positions to replace employees on leave: in recycling centers, reception areas, leisure centers, etc. Leave replacement positions are offered in many companies, keep your eyes peeled.
“ Don’t hesitate to see, for example, the Picardy coast, where there are many offers in hotels and restaurants in the summer », advises Lucie Coquille-Vera. Sector which has tended to develop in the Somme in general for 10-20 years. “These include positions for waiters or kitchen assistants, or camp leaders. » There are plenty of activities in the amusement parks of Hauts-de-France: “You can always apply for the Mer de sable, Bagatelle, Parc Astérix… And every year there is a big recruitment campaign at Club Med», for those who are not afraid to move.
