Fatal stabbings in Rennes. An 18-year-old turned himself in to the police

Saturday evening, an 18-year-old young man surrendered spontaneously to the police station after the death of a 19-year-old young man, stabbed in the chest.

A few hours earlier, around 4:15 p.m., an altercation broke out on the footbridge which, in the Touche district, spans the railway line and leads from downtown to the CHU. A 19-year-old man was stabbed several times. Taken by two people he knew to the university hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. According to our information, the victim, like the young man who surrendered, is known to the courts for drug trafficking.

The events took place next to one of Rennes' thirty-two deal points and the day after the arrival of Bruno Retailleau. The Minister of the Interior was visiting on 1is November in the Maurepas district, after the outbreak of violence in the Breton capital, which led to the gunshot wound of a five-year-old child on October 26.

Saturday, a few hours after the first attack, a brawl broke out at Place du Maréchal-Foch, a stone's throw from Place de Bretagne, in downtown Rennes. A 29-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds. Taken as an absolute emergency to Rennes University Hospital, he was operated on during the night. His vital prognosis is no longer in jeopardy. His attackers, a priori three in number, fled. They are actively sought.

Nothing at this stage of the investigation allows us to assert that the two attacks are linked.
