Strangled and thrown into the Seine. It is the tragic end of a woman victim of the violence of her ex-partner during a new feminicide. The drama took place in Louveciennes, in Yvelines, during the night from Saturday to Sunday.
The police were alerted by a man who called 17. His friend admitted to him that he had committed “stupidity” by killing his ex-partner. According to the suspect, a dispute broke out between them. He allegedly hit her, strangled her, then threw her into the water. When the police went to the indicated barge, they encountered a fifth grade man, visibly drunk. He admitted that the victim had not accidentally fallen alone into the Seine.
The woman's body at the bow of the boat
Two teams of divers, police officers and firefighters, dispatched urgently, probed the Seine and found the woman's body at the bow of the boat. She was 54 years old and her vehicle was parked in front of the pier.
The man was taken into custody. An investigation into intentional homicide was opened and entrusted to the Yvelines territorial criminal directorate. The victim's body was transported to the Garches forensic institute for an autopsy.
In France, a feminicide occurs on average every three days. The Ministry of Justice counted 94 femicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
