It was a probable attempt to settle scores which took place during the night from Saturday to Sunday in the Lyon metropolitan area.
According to Valeurs Actuelles, a resident of Perpignan already convicted of murder and drug trafficking was targeted around 3:15 a.m. in Vaulx-en-Velin.
In his car, he tried to flee and was pursued by two masked and heavily armed individuals, also installed in their vehicle. The latter opened fire several times, peppering the Perpignan resident's car with bullets. Twelve impacts were noted.
The victim, accompanied by another person, managed to escape by taking the ring road. But after having a traffic accident, they completed their escape on foot.
The Perpignan resident was interviewed by the police. He would have stopped at Vaulx-en-Velin for dinner during a journey between the South and the Paris region. Was he recognized on site or was he followed from Perpignan? The open investigation will perhaps reveal this.
