A man was “shot and killed” in the middle of the street during the night from Thursday to Friday in Guadeloupe, we learned on Saturday from a judicial source and the gendarmerie. “A 29-year-old young man was killed during the night from Thursday to Friday in Baie-Mahault, in the Fond Richer district,” Caroline Calbo, public prosecutor of Pointe-à-Pitre, told AFP, confirming a information from RCI, Radio Caraibes International.

“An open homicide investigation”

“An investigation was opened for homicide and the Pointe-à-Pitre gendarmerie research section was contacted,” added the prosecutor.

The victim was seriously injured by gunfire around midnight in the street and died from his injuries, according to initial information from the gendarmerie. The perpetrator(s) of the shooting fled, the same source said.
