A fight between travelers and revelers leaves several injured during a rave party in Brie near

When local residents, annoyed by the noise, decide to attack a rave party. During the night of Saturday November 2 to Sunday November 3, an altercation broke out between Travelers, neighbors of the warehouse where a rave party was held in Brie, near Janzé south of Rennesand party people. Eight people had to be taken to hospital.

This rave party had been taking place since Friday evening in the disused warehouse of a former transport company, in the de Teillay business area. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, at least 3,000 people were there. According to testimonies from partygoers collected by Bleu Armorique, it was almost one in the morning when travelers coming from a nearby camp threw projectiles at the revelers. Still according to these witnesses, these are stones, pieces of tiles measuring several centimeters, firecrackers and even at least one molotov cocktail.

The party-goers explain that they then responded by throwing projectiles in turn. This altercation left several injured, fourteen according to AFP. The Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture indicates that eight people were taken to hospital with minor injuries. Several vehicles were also damaged in this altercation, and a tent burned, according to testimonies.

At 8 a.m. Sunday morning, the sound was cut off according to the authorities, and the ravers gradually left the premises. Around 10 a.m., the last partygoers on site were preparing to leave.checked by the police before hitting the road again.

A large device was deployed on site, around a hundred gendarmes from the Vitré company, the PSIG, the gendarmerie rescue and intervention platoon, but also called in reinforcements from Morbihan and Côtes-d'Armor. Eighty firefighters were also on site, helped at the request of the prefecture by teams of rescuers from Civil Protection and the Red Cross.

A large number of law enforcement officers were on site to calm the situation, control the revelers, but also protect the various protagonists. The warehouse is located dangerously along a railway line and near the - dual carriageway.

“The organizers put the participants in danger”

Amaury de Saint-Quentin, prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine, condemns in a press release “with the greatest firmness the organizers of this rave party who (…) endangered the participants, local residents, motorists and the security and emergency forces”. He also recalls the need to declare this type of event to guarantee “security, health (…) and public peace”.

This rave party was prohibited, since the Ille-et-Vilaine prefecture had published a decree prohibiting “festive gatherings of a musical nature in Ille-et-Vilaine” from Thursday October 31 to Monday November 4, 2024.
