The All Saints' Day weekend almost became more festive than expected in the small town of Saint-Pierre-les-Bitry, located on the border of the departments of Oise and Aisne. Early this Saturday evening, a farmer in the town saw around thirty people starting to take up position in one of his fields, with the aim of starting an illegal rave party.
Quickly informed, the gendarmes will ensure that the unforeseen party does not take place, by deploying in force around the site. Around twenty gendarmes, with reinforcements from the Motorized Brigade of Compiègne, will be mobilized from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. to disrupt the rally.
“All the company’s available resources have been used,” said a soldier. They had to be stopped from settling in the first place. The sound barrier had not yet been put in place and as we were there at the start, there were no drunk people on site. »
The intervention was therefore able to take place smoothly and given the determination of the gendarmes not to let the rave party take place in this field, the “teufeurs” preferred to leave the premises and head back towards Aisne, at the looking for another site. This type of celebration also seems to take place more frequently in this neighboring department of Oise, with participants coming from the north of France, even Belgium or the Netherlands.
The Oise is, however, not spared from the phenomenon since in April 2024, the prefect of the Oise issued a decree from April 20 to 22, prohibiting motorists from driving while transporting sound equipment. The text aimed to abort a major rave party in Villers-sous-saint-Leu. A similar decree was issued in March since fans of the genre seem more active in the spring. Yesterday's attempt in Saint-Pierre-les-Bitry, however, demonstrates that they can also appear in winter.
