The man was first insulted before being severely beaten. His attacker fled with his cell phone.
A man was the victim of a violent homophobic attack in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne) on the evening of Friday November 1, report our colleagues from Le Parisien. The events took place at the exit of the Louis-Aragon metro station.
The victim was first targeted with homophobic insults, before being tackled to the ground and punched in the face. Her attacker then stole her cell phone before fleeing.
An open investigation
The victim first returned home before contacting the emergency services, who then took her to the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital. At this stage of the investigations, no complaint has been filed, but the Créteil public prosecutor's office confirms to Le Parisien that an investigation has been opened.
The mayor of the town, Pierre Garzon, said he was “horrified” by this attack, and affirmed that violence against LGBT+ people is “a scourge that the town of Villejuif is tackling head on”.
He recalls that a “dedicated delegation” has been set up, with an assistant in charge of the fight against discrimination.
