Damien Leguay, baker at Warlousau southeast of Beauvais (Oise), has finally taken the plunge. After being approached several times to participate in the show The best bakery in France on M6he will participate in the twelfth season of the cult show on the M6 channel which will be broadcast in early 2025.
An adventure that excites this regular at regional competitions, who has already received numerous prizes, as evidenced by the numerous posters and prizes which adorn the walls of his shop: Prize for the “best baguette”, “best pastries” or even of the “best snack”… “These competitions allow me to test my level” explains Damien.
A regular at competitions
“There is training behind it, we always try to strive for perfection,” he confided to Oise Newsin 2023, when its pains au chocolat were ranked among the 10 best in France.
A pastry and bakery graduate, Damien Leguay started at the age of 14 in pre-apprenticeship, and never stopped. “You have to be passionate about doing this job,” he assures.
Patience and passion
Damien trained exclusively with bakers from the Oise: he practiced for eight years with his first boss in Beauvais, then worked for two and a half years in a bakery in Marseille-en-Beauvaisis.
At just 25 years old, he opened his own bakery in Warluis. Nine years later, he still seeks to be the best in his activity, encouraged by his wife: “She is my best motivation, she is the one who pushes me to surpass myself”.
In October 2024, he will participate in the competition for Best pain au chocolat in Franceafter receiving several awards at the regional level “I hope to be on the podium”
It is moreover with this flagship pastry of its brandwhich has earned him awards over the last three years, that he decided to seduce the show's jury, who have already visited his bakery for the first stage of the selections.
Film crews have already visited his bakery
Bruno Cormerais, Meilleur Ouvrier de France 2004 and Noémie Honiat, finalist of season 5 of top chef, came several months ago to visit the Leguay bakery and taste two products.
In a few weeks, Damien will know if he is selected for the next stage of the competition and will be able to represent our region in the show, and perhaps have the pride of winning the prestigious title of “best bakery in France”.
