On the night of Friday 1 to Saturday 2 November 2024, around 12:45 a.m., the national police canine brigade was called to intervene to check a motorcyclist on board a KTM, near the Chaudron cable car.

The officers spotted the individual who, upon seeing the police, quickly fled, refusing to submit to the check as reported by ImazPress.

Alliance Police Nationale 974 (APN974), through its representatives, explains: “The driver was revving his engine in the neighborhood, attracting the attention of the patrolling teams. Thanks to cross-checking work and their knowledge of the area, the police managed to locate the individual and arrest him. »

The officers, however, faced strong resistance. According to APN974, the driver gave off a strong smell of alcohol and continued to rebel, insulting and threatening the police. The two members of the canine unit who participated in the arrest were injured in the altercation, receiving 4 and 5 days of total incapacity for work (ITT) respectively.

Faced with his advanced state of intoxication, the accused was placed in deferred custody and will soon have to answer for his actions in court.

APN974 strongly condemns this violence: “We deplore these attacks on our colleagues who carry out their mission in the service of public security. We are calling for a strong criminal response to remind us that this behavior cannot be tolerated. » The union also wanted to express its support for the injured police officers and wishes them a speedy recovery.

This new incident reignites the debate on the safety of law enforcement officers during routine interventions, often marked by physical and verbal attacks.
