Notice to ski, mountain or raclette lovers. From December 15, the Italian company Trenitalia announced the extension of its Paris-Lyon line for the winter period to two popular destinations in Savoie: Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne and Chambéry will now be served from Gare de Lyon.
Stations accessible until March 30
But to access the Alps mountains, you will have to be patient, since the new stations will not be accessible only on weekends with a single daily return trip. Departure will be in the morning and return at the end of the day. It will take 3h30 to reach Chambéry and 4h15 to Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne. The ticket office has already been open since October 31 on the Italian company's website.
“Thanks to these new connections, we are responding to a growing demand from travelers who want to get to the mountains quickly and comfortably. This is a new step in our commitment to offering flexible journeys, adapted to all needs, and respectful of the environment,” said Marco Caposciutti, president of Trenitalia France, in a press release.
With this extension in effect until 30 mars 2025the Italian company continues its establishment in France and in particular in the capital. Next year, a first line between Paris and Marseille should also see the light of day.
