Will the playground, announced by the city on social networks on October 2, be finished on time? The end of the work was announced last Tuesday October 8 during a public meeting in the town of Ham, for the end of October, then for mid-November.
The flooded playground
Because that's without taking into account the autumn rains and the new flooding of the premises at Délicourt Park. In fact, on Monday October 14, the place to accommodate the new area, already under construction, was flooded. The first constructions therefore had their feet in the water. But all this would be normal according to Bruno Sirot, deputy mayor of the town of Ham in charge of the work.
Draining stones to remedy the problem
“We chose the same location as the old playground. This was the best in relation to the flooding problem. It was therefore necessary to dig, install the construction and then put draining stones before the layer of bark. So everything is going normally.” assures the latter. And Eric Legrand, mayor of the city added during a public meeting: “I saw on the networks that we were at a swimming pool today. And I admit that I thought that everything should be stopped. But the subcontractor in charge of the earthworks explained to us that this was a normal phenomenon, because the stones were still missing on the surface. The problem is that because the stones were not placed quickly enough, the hole filled up. So we'll have to wait for the water to go away…“.
The playground validated by the young people of the municipal children's council
During these meetings, the elected officials therefore confirmed the construction of the playground: “We have 120,000€ worth of work (including tax) with 31% state subsidy (DETR or Equipment Grant for Rural Territories) and others, i.e. 70,000€ for the City. The structures will have a wooden appearance.” indicate the two elected officials. And to continue: “The municipal children's council has seen the plans and projects. The children participated in this project.” Because young elected officials were asked to participate in the choice of priority facilities.
