A truck of second-hand clothing is crisscrossing the Somme at the moment and until the end of the summer. On June 5 and 6, he stopped for two days in Liercourt (80). It’s the “L” storea cheaperie” based at Chepy, near Feuquières-en-Vimeu, which organizes such an event. The objective is to meet new customers, particularly those who do not have the material or financial means to travel. The store only employs people in professional reintegration.

Clothes for 1 or 2 euros

Angélique Sarthe, the project manager at the cheaperie based in Chepy, explains why she chose sales locations like Liercourt: “We are at a sales location which is quite far from our store. It is a 30-minute drive. It’s a somewhat strategic place for us anyway, because we are between Abbeville and Airaines. So quite large municipalities all the same, but which do not offer this type of service.”

“We have people who need cheap clothes, because the financial situation is complicated. So obviously when we tell them that we sells the garment for 1 or 2 euros, it’s still at least 10 times cheaper than in stores. People are very happy!” observes Angélique Sarthe, the project supervisor.

7 different municipalities until September

In the Somme, the next events for ephemeral sales of second-hand clothing are already planned. In June : it is from the 12th to the 13th in Pendé and from the 26th to the 27th in Yzengremer. In July: it’s from the 16th to the 17th in Gamaches and from the 24th to the 25th in Dargnies. In September: September 4 and 5 in Cambron and September 25 and 26 in Allery. Then, the store continues sales at 1 euro but at its Chepy store, near Feuquières-en-Vimeu.
