They had until 6 p.m. this Sunday, June 16, to apply for the legislative elections organized following the dissolution of the National Assembly. There are 42 candidates who will campaign for 11 days in Guadeloupe. Less than the 2022 elections.

At the close of the submission of candidacies for the legislative elections which took place today at 6 p.m., 42 candidates were counted:

  • 11 for the first constituency,
  • 14 for the second constituency,
  • 11 for the third constituency,
  • 6 for the fourth constituency,

Lists still subject to final validation and registration by the prefecture.

42 candidates, far from the 59 registered in the 2022 ballot which saw the victory of Olivier Serva, in the 1st constituency, Christian Baptiste in the second, Max Mathiasin in the 3rd and Elie Califer in the 4th constituency.

With the dissolution of the National Assembly announced by the President of the Republic, on the evening of the results of the European elections, the cards are reshuffled. The French will once again be called to the polls. June 29 and July 6 in Guadeloupe.

In this flood of candidates, most of whom are unclassifiable, it is difficult to have a rational political reading. The division between the two community presidents, Region and Department, is in broad daylight this evening. It is particularly illustrated in the 3rd district. Teddy Bernadotte, a close advisor to President Ary Chalus will face Fred Deshayes, invested by Guy Losbar’s GUSR.

In this constituency, the outgoing deputy, Max Mathiasin is in an uncomfortable situation with these candidates, but also with Rody Tolassy, of the National Rally, newly elected European deputy who is launching, at the last minute, in this legislative election.

We will also have to count on the candidacy of Francis Lalanne, the singer.

In the 1st constituency, Olivier Serva will have to count on the candidacy of the vice-president of the Region, Chantal Lérus. It remains to be seen what support the latter has.

The announcement was made from Paris, the comedian Dieudonné will be a candidate in this constituency.

The Popular Front will be present with Marvyn Martol and Alyans nasyonal Gwadloup, Laurence Maquiaba.

In the 2nd constituency, no return of Justine Bénin. Which probably suits Christian Baptiste, invested by the Popular Front. The constituency attracts many candidates. There are 14 of them. Among them Michel Tola, or Priscillia Sylvestre supported by Ary Chalus.

Finally, in the 4th district, Elie Califer, the incumbent, seems well on his way to a quiet renewal. He will face regional councilor Jennifer Linon, the only candidate who seems to have the support of both presidents.
