From Monday November 4 to Friday November 8, a Creuse family will participate in the show Duels en famille on France 3, every day at 4:45 p.m.
It was last Christmas that the idea of participating in the show “Duels en Familles”, broadcast every day at 4:45 p.m. on France 3, was born. While Véronique and her husband watch, like every day of every week, Cyril Féraud's program, their daughter Angéline, innocently says: “It would be nice to do a game show together! » Véronique, who lives in Linard-Malval, needed no more. As soon as the end of year holidays are over, the retiree jumps on her computer and applies in complete secrecy.
Two castings before filming
“A month later, in February, I received a call from the programmers,” remembers the mother. They wanted to meet us to go through several castings. » She immediately informs her son Sébastien, her daughter and her best friend Marilyne, putting them “on a fait accompli”. Surprise !
Two video interviews – one in May, the other in June – later, the fine team received the filming date: September 19. Of the four teammates, only Véronique knew about the show. So to prepare, no joint training but hours and hours of replay to observe the previous duels.
Concept. Every week, from Monday to Friday, two families, from two different regions, compete on questions of general culture. Only one team (the one that wins the most points) can advance to the grand final on Friday and try to win up to 13,000 euros over the entire week.
On the big day, the team, having arrived the day before in Paris, is impatient to “discover behind the scenes of the show”, says Véronique who specifies that they “did not come for the money or the victory”. At the end of the phone, his voice still conveys a few notes of euphoria.
Between what we see on television and what really happens on set, there are two completely different worlds. Everyone should be able to have this experience!
Accustomed to watching the show from her sofa, the former bank employee was far from imagining the multitude of people mobilized for the show, the obligatory visit to the makeup table, the audience made up of intermittents from the show… “It was very intimidating. I didn't have enough eyes to look at everything. » There was also the presenter Cyril Féraud, “very nice, very professional” who, between two rounds, signed a dedication to Véronique.

After the first minutes of wonder, anxiety mounts. “It’s easy to answer when you’re behind your screen but when you’re on the yellow and blue set, it’s not the same. I was afraid of saying stupid things, of not being good enough. » Without saying too much about the performances of her team so as not to spoil the pleasure of the spectators who will discover the show from Monday 4 to Friday 8 November, Véronique is content to specify: “We didn't do too badly” .
A family viewing evening
There are now only a few days left before the broadcast. Véronique's excitement is at its peak. “I can’t wait for our friends and families to watch to see what they think of our visit.” » The retiree will watch the program live with her husband as usual. And then a second time on replay while launching a videoconference to debrief with Angéline, Sébastien and Marilyne. A beautiful moment of sharing that promises to be rich in emotions.
