This Thursday, October 31, at dawn, an attempted arrest ended in shots fired by the police in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, in the Rouen metropolis. Two individuals, suspected of stealing cans of gasoline, fled in a stolen vehicle bearing a false license plate.
The events began in the Bois-Cany commercial area in Grand-Quevilly (Seine-Maritime), where a police patrol spotted the suspects. As reported by France3, while the agents tried to intercept the vehicle in the neighboring town of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, the driver suddenly backed away to head towards the officials, putting their safety at risk.
In this situation, a police officer was forced to use his weapon. Two shots were fired, hitting the rear window of the vehicle, but without causing injury. The criminals then abandoned the vehicle not far from the scene of the incident and disappeared.
The police quickly undertook in-depth searches in the area, including the forest of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, without however being able to locate them.
The investigation was entrusted to the competent authorities in order to find the individuals on the run and shed light on this matter.
