Stroke of genius ! This organization of the departmental committee of Hiking via the hikers of Sézannaisand the sports union of primary education, starting from Sézanne was a masterstroke. In fact, there are no less than 42 primary classes classes of CP, CE1, CE2, CM1 and CM2 who participated on May 16 in this great hike. Schools of Broussy, Connantre, Conflans-sur-Seine, Esternay, Fontaine-Denis, Gaye, Sézanne Centre, Sézanne Limonières, Sézanne IME, Sézanne Saint Denis, Saudoy and the ULIS class of Sézanne.
Security assured
In total, 882 students accompanied by 133 adults went to the Sézanne Center school for a staggered departure over the 10 km of the route taking the Limonières trail and those along the Vindey vineyards on a circuit tag. A 5 km circuit was also available. It was borrowed by part of the IME of Sézanne and some other classes.
“For maximum security, marshals were present at all crossroads and the gendarmerie protected the entrance and exit of the school on Rue de la Paix,” indicates Patrick Baudot, President of the Randonneurs du Sézannais. On behalf of the organizers, he would like to warmly thank those who made this hike possible: “It should be noted the vital participation of the Sézanne Town Hall through its mayor, Sacha Hewaq, his deputies: Karine Cabartier and Jean Agrapart, the Technical Services , as well as our thanks to Michel Peligri, the mayor of Vindey, and Vincent Léglantier, the president of the Foncière association, who authorized this event. »
The rain of the party
The rain spared the hikers who sometimes had fun jumping in the mud following the downpours of the previous days, when the route had not been made difficult to pass. A water supply, provided by the city, two map reading workshops, a snack provided by the French Hiking Federation for a picnic in the countryside, completed the day. “Young and old alike were delighted with this day and are all ready to do it again in 2024,” says Patrick Baudot.
